Dr. Alexei Pevtsov, Solar and Heliospheric Physics Program Scientist
Dr. Alexei Pevtsov serves as Solar Physics Discipline Scientists at Heliophysics Division,
Science Mission Directorate; he is also the Program Scientist for several Heliophysics missions
including Hinode (former Solar-B), SDO, SOHO, TRACE, and RHESSI. In addition to his NASA
responsibilities, Dr. Pevtsov is an Associate Astronomer at the National Solar
Observatory/Sacramento Peak studying topology and evolution of solar magnetic fields and their role
in solar activity. He also teaches introductory astronomy at New Mexico State University. Dr.
Pevtsov received his Ph.D. degree in Physics and Mathematics (Solar and Planetary Physics) from the
Institute of Solar-Terrestrial Physics, Russia, in June 1992. He is the author and co-author of over
90 scientific papers. He has co-edited a book on "Magnetic helicity in laboratory and space
plasmas", published by the American Geophysical Union and three other books of conference
proceedings. He is a member of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) and its Solar Physics
Division, the American Geophysical Union (AGU), the International Astronomical Union (IAU), and the
Committee on Space Research (COSPAR).
